parental involvement

We feel that the high level of parental involvement in Hail Weston Pre-School is one of its key features. Our annual AGM takes place in the autumn term and is a great opportunity for new parents to meet each other, the staff and the committee.  This is also an opportunity to find out more about the pre-school as well as how you can become more involved.

Our setting recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their children.  All staff see themselves as partners with parents in providing care and education for their children. There are many ways parents may contribute to the setting, such as:

  • Adding their child's experiences on Tapestry
  • Exchanging knowledge about their children’s needs, activities, interests and progress
  • Joining the committee
  • Joining in social and fundraising activities
  • Accompanying the children on outings and trips led by the staff
  • Attending pre-school for a session as a helper
  • Being a parent helper - making play-dough, cleaning towels etc

We send out information to parent's with details of what activities and skills we will be encouraging for the next week. We encourage parents to use this information to aid discussions about pre-school activities at home and maybe prepare something to bring in for ‘Show and Tell’.  It includes information on any special outside visitors we have coming and any nature walks or external visits which are planned.

In addition the pre-school also has an active Facebook page which allows parents to see the kind of activities the children undertake during the typical school day.
